The remodel of 2 floors of office space gave way to 56,490 pounds of furniture valued at $117,760. The furniture went to support the missions of two California schools.
When FM, a global property insurance firm, decided to remodel two floors at their Los Angeles Operations facility, they wanted to reduce waste, extend the life of their office resources, and support local communities. Through a partnership with The Furniture Trust, they donated $117,760 worth of furniture, diverted 55,920 pounds of furniture from the landfill, and impacted 3,030 lives. The Trust leveraged their Sustainable Network to connect this product with Palisades Charter High School (PCHS) in Woodland Hills, CA.
The students of PCHS were forced back into COVID-style remote learning when the January 2025 Palisades fire seriously damaged the school, leaving it with no usable furniture. The gently used furniture donated by FM found a second life supporting academic space. This generous donation allows PCHS to continue empowering its diverse student population to make positive contributions to the global community by dedicating resources to ensure educational excellence, civic responsibility, and personal growth.

"As part of our continued commitment to sustainability, we’re proud to partner with The Furniture Trust. Whenever we undergo an office renovation or move, The Furniture Trust visits our site to assess the available inventory. While we don’t always know in advance what items will be accepted, their team works to identify recipients who can benefit most, helping ensure that furniture is repurposed rather than sent to landfills.”
